CHILD MARRIAGE A PROBLEM-ECL
President Edgar Lungu says child marriages and teenage pregnancies continue to be a challenge.
The President has also observed that 60 percent of girls in the Eastern province are married off at a young age.
President Lungu has said this in a speech read on his behalf by Minister of Gender, Elizabeth Phiri during the launch of by-Laws for the Chadiza Royal Establishment for ending early marriages and teenage pregnancies.
And Plan International Acting Director, Lazarous Mwale has reaffirmed his organisation’s commitment to working with government and Chiefs to end child marriages.
