CHILANGWA CALLS FOR IBA ACTION

Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa has asked the Independent Broadcasting Authority -IBA- to regulate media houses that are perpetuating hatred among the Zambian people.
Speaking at a media briefing in Mansa, Mr. Chilangwa said it was wrong for certain media houses to use their platforms to insult President Edgar Lungu.
He noted that some media houses have recently been insulting President Lungu for recognising the Bemba grouping as one of the largest groups in the country.
Mr. Chilangwa added that it is the responsibility of IBA to regulate media houses being used for hate speech against the government.
He pointed out that people should not accuse President Lungu of insulting the very people who voted for him in the last presidential elections.
Mr Chilangwa has since apologised to the Head of State for the people that have misrepresented Luapula province and misinformed the Zambian people.
