CHIEF LUMPUMA APPEALS TO GOVT

Chief Lumpuma of Lufwanyama on the Copperbelt province is concerned with low literacy levels in his chiefdom and has since appealed to government to speed up the construction of a Boarding secondary school and primary education facility in the area.
The chief says the vast chiefdom has no modern secondary school while works on Lumpuma Boarding which kicked off three years ago have stalled.
Chief Lumpuma told ZNBC News at his palace in Lufwanyama that the construction of a primary school for one thousand pupils by Gemcanton has also stalled and urged the mine to speed up works.
He said there is need for government to finish building Lumpuma Boarding secondary school before the start of the 2019 school calendar.
The traditional leader said the inadequate education facilities were a contributing factor to early marriages.
Meanwhile, the chief has appealed to the Zambia Information and Communication Technology Authority -ZICTA- to install communication towers in his chiefdom.
Chief Lumpuma said his subjects are still struggling with communication despite the advancement of technology.
And Chief Lumpuma’s Private secretary Simon Zulu has called for massive investment in the area to improve people’s lives.
