Chief Chiwala Wants FRA Depots And Roads Worked On

By Enoch Lusoke

Chief Chiwala of the Lamba Speaking People of Ndola district on the Copperbelt has called for the setting up of the Food Reserve Agency –FRA- satellite depots in the chiefdom for farmers to sale their maize to government.

The traditional leader also wants roads to be worked on for easy transportation as the FRA commences the nationwide buying of One Million Metric Tons of maize in the 2020 crop marketing season for national strategic reserves.

He said so far many of his subjects have been exploited by private buyers of maize and this is attributed to lack of FRA depots and the poor road network in the area.

He told Phoenix News, that despite numerous calls on the FRA to reopen satellite depots and government to work on the roads in the area, none of the two concerns have been addressed.

Last week the FRA announced that it will commence its maize buying exercise this week countrywide.
