CHIEF CALLS FOR TECH EMPOWERMENT FOR RURAL WOMEN

Central province council of chiefs Chairperson, Chief CHIBALE says government should find ways of empowering women in rural areas through innovation and technology.

Chief CHIBALE says the women in rural areas have lagged behind because they do not have access to the technology.

The traditional leader said this when he and other traditional leaders met vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO in Kabwe ahead of the Women’s Day commemorations .

And Chief CHAMUKA has urged Government to consider setting ICT labs in chiefdoms so that women and children have access to the facilities.

He also called on Government to improve access of internet in the rural areas to enable women get an education and also access to wider markets for their products.

Meanwhile Chief MULENDEMA said it is important that women are exposed to ICT and further called on Government to expedite rural electrification.

And Mrs NALUMANGO said Government will continue to find ways of empowering women so that they can effectively participate in the affairs of the nation.

Mrs NALUMANGO commended the traditional leaders for taking the lead in pushing the empowerment of women and girls in rural areas.
