By Ruth Chayinda

Leader of the Opposition in Parliament ROBERT CHABINGA has commended Government for putting in place interventions to mitigate the depreciation of the Kwacha against the U.S Dollar.

Mr. CHABINGA says Government’s efforts to revive the economy in various sectors will form a foundation of Zambia’s economic revival.

He says among the notable projects that will change the economy of Zambia is the recent investments into the mines which includes the Kobold metals new discovery of the largest copper deposits.

Mr. CHABINGA says the new deals of the Mopani Copper Mines and Konkola Copper Mine will also significantly contribute to growth of the economy.

Speaking during a Press Briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. CHABINGA said President HICHILEMA is a visionary and futuristic leader who continues to offer clarity on his administration’s policies.

And Mr. CHABINGA who is also Mafinga Member of Parliament said there is need for the country to continue fine-tuning the constitution to make it more responsive to the needs and the aspirations of Zambians.

He has also called for the retention of Parliamentarians in the running of Local Authorities so that they can participate in decision making particularly regarding land delimitation.

Meanwhile Mr. CHABINGA has described the creation of the United Kwacha Alliance -UKA as one that has been hatched by opportunists.

Mr. CHABINGA has disputed claims that the country’s democratic space is shrinking as political parties are able to hold press conferences without any cadres threatening them.
