CDF TO COMPLETE PROJECTS-MWAMBAZI

 

Bwana Mkubwa Member of Parliament WARREN MWAMBAZI says the release of the first quarter installment for the Constituency Development Fund will help complete stalled projects.

And Mr. MWAMBAZI has commended government for ensuring that the funds are released to constituencies on time.

He says the move is progressive especially that some constituencies have projects that have stalled due to lack of funds.

Mr. MWAMBAZI adds that the allocation will also contribute to empowering locals who will be engaged in various works.

He has urged local authorities who are implementers to ensure they expedite procurement processes to allow the benefits of CDF to trickle down to the local people.

Mr. MWAMBAZI says people will only appreciate the allocation and release of funds if they begin to benefit through the delivery of various services.

Meanwhile,  Copperbelt Province Minister, ELISHA MATAMBO has called for thorough explanation of the components involved in the Constituency Development Funds -CDF.

And Mr. MATAMBO has also called on Ward Development Committees and local authorities to expedite project identification and ensure works are implemented.

He says Members of Parliament, councilors and Ward Development Committees should ensure that the procedures involved when applying for empowerment funds are explained to the people.

Mr. MATAMBO stated that Ward Development Committees should also avail application forms for those trooping to their offices with intent to apply for the funds.

The Copperbelt Province Minister has noted with concern that a lot of people especially those from marginalized communities have little or no information that CDF also contains empowerment and scholarship funds.
