Cattle rustling rife in Mazabuka

Traditional leaders in Mazabuka District have asked Government to intervene in the rising cases of cattle theft in their chiefdoms.

Chief HANJALIKA of the Tonga people says armed criminals are attacking various households which is causing panic in communities.

He says this has led to many families living with hunger due to loss of cattle and other properties.

Chief HANJALIKA was speaking as a representative of Traditional leaders when Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO called on the Chiefs in Mazabuka.

He said the chiefs are ready to work with Government because it has shown commitment to uplifting living standards of citizens.

And Mrs. NALUMANGO said Government is aware of the challenges and will soon start addressing them.

Mrs. NALUMANGO said her office will continue to work on areas of urgent concern because the people are the beneficiaries.

She also urged the chiefs to inform Government on issues that require immediate attention in their areas.
