Caritas calls for plan to counter drought

Caritas Zambia – Executive Director Father GABRIEL MAPULANGA has called on the government to share a comprehensive plan on how the current drought situation will be addressed.

This follows the dry spell that has hit some parts of the country.

In a statement to ZNBC News, Fr MAPULANGA said the government should also  state actions it will take to assist affected households.

He has also encouraged the government to explore and adopt agroecology as a sustainable methodology to support small-scale farmers in planting and growing crops even during challenging conditions.

Fr MAPULANGA said this will contribute positively to the country’s food security.

Vice President Mutale Nalumango is expected to issue a statement to Parliament on the matter.
