CAF Duty: Napsa Stars thrash Ngazi Sport…As Nkana edge Bantu FC

Zambia’s envoys in CAF Inter-clubs competitions Napsa Stars and Nkana recorded wins in their respective preliminary round first leg affairs to give themselves an edge ahead of the second leg fixtures.

Zambia Super League defending Champions, Nkana edged Lesotho side Bantu FC 1-0 thanks to a first-half strike from Idriss Ilunga Mbombo to start their 2020 CAF Champions League campaign on a good note.

CAF Confederation Cup debutants Napsa Stars were on song this afternoon as they humiliated Ngazi Sport 5-1 away in the Comoros Islands.

Kenyan talisman Timothy Otieno put the Pensioners in the lead just six minutes into the match after being put on by Laudit Mavugo to open his Napsa Stars goal account. Despite creating several chances the Pensioners could not add to their tally in the first 45 minutes.

Danny Mathews Silavwe came from the bench to score two goals in three minutes first set up by Jacob Ngulube and the second one by Austin Banda. Ngulube was again a provider in the 73rd minute this time around setting up Emmanuel Mayuka for his first Napsa Stars goal.

Ngazi Sport pulled one back the o minutes to time through Marianot Raharinjatovo but Ngulube who was having a game of his life restored the four-goal advantage in additional time with a beautiful strike to seal a number well deserved 5-1 win.

Napsa Stars and Nkana will host Ngazi Sport and Bantu FC respectively this coming weekend for the return legs of their CAF Inter-clubs engagements to decide who goes through to the next round.
