Despite Nkana being the first to threaten in the first minute with a shot in the box from Shadreck Malambo, Zesco were curving out the better chances with Lazarous Kambole and Jesse Were being guilty of missing clear chances.

Determined to change their fortunes, Nkana made a substitution at the start of the second half bringing in Chisamba Lungu for Freddie Tshimenga. In bizarres circumstances, Chisamba went down unchallenged with his first touch of the ball and was substituted a minute later for Harrison Chisala.

Nkana were on the ascendancy from then on and it was Chisala who provided the assist when Kelvin Kampamba curled a shot from outside the box that beat Jacob Banda for the first goal in the 63rd minute.

Zesco pressed for an equalizer but it was the hosts who scored their second when Joseph Musonda’s free kick on the left from near the centre circle was cushioned by Walter Bwalya for Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba who reacted well to finish with a volley from inside the box in the 85th minute.

There was more to come in the 90th minute when substitute Shadreck Musonda store the ball from Shemmy Mayembe at the right corner flag to race into the box and score from a tight angle.

The win leaves Nkana on top of the group with 9 points as they await results from the Asante Kotoko v Al Hilal game which kicks off at 18h00.
