Bus and Taxi Drivers Association of Zambia cries foul

vlcsnap-2018-11-15-19h23m24s276The Bus and Taxi Drivers Association of Zambia has cried foul over the additional requirement fee introduced by the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) for renewing the Road Service License for the year 2019.

Association President, Tresford Mwila has accused the RTSA of using force to obtain money on behalf of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and the Bus and Taxi Owners Association, the institutions they do not belong to.

Mr. Mwila has told a media briefing that following this development, his association held a meeting with the CILT Executive during which it was revealed that Buses do not qualify to be members of CILT.

He says RTSA should not use the relationship it has with CILT to disregard the law and obtain advantage of people that may be ignorant about something and force them to be members.

Mr. Mwila says his association finds it irregular and unethical that RTSA’s relationship with CILT is being used by the agency whose Chief Executive Officer Zindaba Soko is the President of CILT.

The Bus and Taxi Drivers Association of Zambia has since demanded that RTSA refunds all its members that have already paid the said additional fees failure to which it will take legal action the agency.

And BTDAZ National Secretary, Sidney Mbewe has described the route taken by RTSA and CILT to obtain money from their members as illegal.

Mr. Mbewe says BDTAZ will stand firm and will not bow to demands by the two institutions stating that only with a binding law supporting the move by the two organisations will they be compelled to pay the said amount.
