Green Eagles coach Aggrey Chiyangi has revealed that his side is aiming to win the 2019 ABSA Cup.

Chiyangi told the ZamFoot Crew in an interview that his side will be looking to make history, Winning the ABSA Cup for the very first time. The Choma based outfit have only qualified to the former Barclays Cup three times and this will be the first time they will play semifinals.

“For us as Green Eagles, we really want to win this Cup. We want to make history and it will be very good if Green Eagles can win this Cup but to win you have to compete. We are not going to play against a small team, We are going to play against a team with a lot of experience and very good players. I have told my players that we are equal on the field and that they just need to have confidence,” he said.

“We have not played against them this season but we have been watching them they have played very well. They are a good team it’s just that they made a lot of mistakes in defense, ” he added.

Chiyangi will be facing his former employers Zanaco but denied being under any form of pressure ahead of the game tomorrow. He believes nothing will change between him and his national team assistant coach Numba Mumamba who is the Zanaco head coach.

” I worked for Zanaco and worked with Numba Mumamba, a Very good coach. It’s not putting pressure on me, Its friendship, as usual, We will laugh and chat but when the game starts it will be competition, We just have to compete that’s all,” He said.

Zanaco has always given Eagles a tough time every time the two teams meet with the Choma based outfit winning only two games in 16 games losing 9 games.

“This is a different game, It does not put pressure on me or the team. Every time a team beats you, You have to think how did they beat us and figure out how to beat them,” Chiyangi told the ZamFoot Crew.

Eagles will clash with Zanaco in the early kick with Zesco United and Buildcon going head to head in the second match of the day. The winners in the two games will face off in the final on 22nd June for a chance to bag half a million Kwacha prize money.
