Blue Arrows return back to winning ways
Blue Arrows 2 – 1 Sinazongwe United
Tembo and Mike scored either side of half time as Arrows returned to winning ways and giving a reality check to Sinazongwe United which saw the Airmen recover from back to back defeats in a week to record a win at Chitanki.
It took just a minute for the Kariba net casters to register their intentions with the dominance in the game and a missed chance . 25 minutes into the game, The referee handed a penalty to the home side for handball in the box and the game came to a stand still for more than 5 minutes as the visitors protested the decision. The game resumed with four players shown yellow cards and the coach sent to the stands.
Tembo took the penalty and converted it.The visitors worked there way into the game halfway into the first half and came close to getting an equaliser only for the strike to go wide off the goal mark. Despite being second best and Sinazongwe dominating the game, Arrows kept chasing for a second goal and Answell was close to getting them the second goals. Runell also came close twice.
Six minutes to the break Tembo nealy doubled the lead after rounding off the diffenders but failed to beat the goalkeeper shoting wide and Arrows went into the half with a comfortable one nil lead. The kariba coast based side become more and determined in the second half. They had an opportunity that fell to their striker but the player could not connect with a beautiful cross. With 22 minutes left to play they got a free kick outside the 18 yard box,it was taken and came close to getting an equaliser the keeper beaten only for the ball to hit the post and cleared.
At this point Arrows were much in there own half diffending and captain Kelvin Chileshe cleared a long one which found Mike in a one on one situation with the diffender. The goalkeeper charged and Mike was inteligent enough to rob the keeper to double the lead for Arrows in the 70th Minute. Three minutes later United were also awarded a penalty and the midfielder converted it easily beating Demo in goal.
The airmen held on their nerver as five minuates was added on in injury time bt it was not enough for the net casters to grab an equaliser.
