Black Mountain Proprietors Irk Lawmaker over Compensation Delay

The politics around the Black Mountain were back at play as Nkana Member of Parliament Alexander Chiteme lambasted Black Mountain lead operators Chapamo Mineral Processing for failure to rehabilitate houses damaged through blasting activities.

During an interactive session with the community under the umbrella of an initiative dubbed “Bringing Parliament Closer to the People” Chiteme said he was disappointed that despite government having bended to accommodate the youth better known in Copperbelt lingo as Jerabos, they had not reciprocated the gesture.

Chiteme said that he would engage the Jerabos again to ensure that the citizens’ houses were rehabilitated.

He also noted that the conduct of drivers that ferry the slag leave potentially dangerous materials on the road through spillage.

But when contacted, Chapamo Mineral Processing Managing Director Kelvin Tembo said management had prioritised the issue and was receiving attention stating that money meant to rehabilitate the houses is expected to be released next week.
