Bicycle spoke used to kill Mansa man, police say

A-27-year old man of Mansa has been arrested by police for stabbing another man to death using a bicycle spoke on the chest.

Meanwhile, one person has drowned in the Pambashe River in Kawambwa District of Luapula Province after a canoe on which he was capsized.

In the murder incident, a 37 year old man identified as Rodgers Kalemwa was stabbed by the suspect identified as Evans Mulubwa aged 27 of the same village.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo revealed in a statement that during a drinking spree at the suspects house, the victim got drunk and accidentally fell on the music equipment for the suspect which upset the owner of the equipment.

Katongo said after the music system got damaged, the owner out of anger stabbed the victim with a sharpened bicycle spoke in the left side of the chest.

She said the victim sustained a  deep wound on the left side of the chest and died on the spot while the suspect has  been arrested and will appear in court for Murder.

Meanwhile,  a 30-year old man identified as  Kelvin Mwape of Mwange Village drowned on Pambashe river on Sunday
around 16: 00 hours.

The victim drowned whilst in transit to Chief Chama’s area paddling his canoe which later capsized as a result of strong wind and waves.

Katongo told Mwebantu in a statement that the body of the deceased has since been retrieved and  has been buried.
