He further told the ZamFoot crew that the match against Zesco United was a motivation ahead of the new Super League season scheduled to kickoff on 31st August, 2019.

“It’s a good thing that we have won today. I think the defense stood strong in this game. We are very happy with the performance of everyone. I hope we can maintain the same, it’s good on our part to start with a victory. This is good motivation as we prepare for the start of the season,” Mumamba said

The cool and calm Mumamba said that his technical bench was observant of the mistakes made by his squad and promised to work on the backline so that they can avoid conceding a lot of goals in the upcoming season.

“We have learnt so many lessons. Whenever we see mistakes we have to go and work on them in training. we appreciate what everyone has been giving us and we are going to keep on encouraging the players,” Mumamba revealed.

The Bankers won their first Charity Shield since 2006 via a Ziyo Tembo header in the first half to add a fourth Shield in their trophy cabinet. Tembo saw another powerful header bounce off the crossbar to deny him a second one for the day.

Mumamba says that the victory will inspire his side to challenge for the title this season having missed out on winning the Super League in the past three seasons.

“Our objective is to challenge for the title, I think it has eluded us for the past three seasons, this time around we are going to fight for it,” Mumamba said.
