BE CAUTIOUS ON THE ROAD-DMMU

Minister in the office of the Vice President, Sylvia Chalikosa has appealed to transporters to always be cautious on the road as they ferry people.
Ms. Chalikosa says the accident involving the scorpion bus and a stationary truck in Mushindamo district which claimed 14 lives could have been avoided if traffic rules were followed.
She says government is deeply saddened over the loss of lives of individuals who were contributing to the nation’s economy.
Speaking when she paid a courtesy call on North Western Province Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu at his office this morning, the Minister said government sympathises with the bereaved families and the entire North Western Province over the loss of lives.
She said Government has helped the bereaved families by purchasing coffins and distributing food stuff.
The Minister has since appealed to the Road Transport and Safety Agency RTSA to up its mandate of ensuring Safety on the Road.
The Minister is accompanied by DMMU national Coordinator Chanda Kabwe, Lands Minister Jean Kapata and Foreign Affairs Minister Joe Malanji for the burial of Five of the 14 that died in the accident.
And Mr. Mubukwanu praised government for coming to the aid of the provincial administration and the bereaved families.
He said out of the 14 who died, 5 will be buried in Solwezi, two on the Copperbelt, two in Kalumbila, one in Zambezi and one in Lusaka.
The Minister further disclosed that 3 bodies are unidentified will only be buried upon identification.
