By Aaron Mubanga Jnr | April 9, 2021

Copper Queens skipper Barbra Banda is relishing taking on Banyana Banyana of South Africa in tomorrow’s international friendly match set for Bidvest Stadium.

Banda says the team is ready for the game and will take it very seriously as it flags off their preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“We are very much ready for the game, for us it’s very important because it is our step in preparing for the Olympics, We have to put our efforts together so that we prepare adequately,” she said.

“Our target as a team to get a positive result, We know it won’t be easy but it gives us an advantage as we need to meet tough opposition given that where we are going it won’t be easy for us.”

Coach Bruce Mwape has assembled a blend of experienced and new players. Banda believes this is a chance for the new players to show what they are capable of doing.

“It’s a good opportunity for them to show what they capable of doing given that some players are not available,” she said.

“We have to prepare adequately, when we qualified COVID-19 came and there was nothing that could be done, We have to get ready for anything.”

“We are not going to the Olympics to be participants but to compete and we will be ready to meet any team,” she added.

The team arrived this morning in South Africa for tomorrow’s friendly match and is accommodated at the SAFA Technical Centre.
