Avoid using excessive force and unnecessary discharge of fire arms, Kakoma Kanganja advises his officers

INSPECTOR General of Police Kakoma Kanganja has advised officers deployed to police by- elections in Roan, Bahati and in Kafue to avoid using excessive force and unnecessary discharge of fire arms.
And the I.G has urged officers to ensure that they fairly provide security to all Political Parties taking part in the elections.
The I.G said this on the Copperbelt yesterday where he had gone to check on the security situation and the deployment patterns for officers in Luanshya’s Roan constituency.
Kanganja also cautioned officers against engaging in active politics saying all those who wanted to join active politics should surrender their uniform.
And the I.G directed the Officers to sternly deal with perpetrators of violence irrespective of their political affiliation.
Meanwhile police on the Copperbelt have divided Roan Constituency into 10 Zones for effective policing during the by-election period.
And Copperbelt Permanent Secretary Bright Nundwe has appealed to the I.G to ensure that the presence of politicians in the area should not instill fear in the local people of Luanshya.
“We cannot continue riding on confusion.  Violence disturbs everything. We want to see level headedness in all those taking part in this election.” said Nundwe.
