Avoid partisan politics, Veep asks church

Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO has urged the church to be non partisan and focus on preaching the word of God to the people.

Mrs. NALUMANGO says the church should work with the government of the day and not take sides as they both serve the same people .

She says government is committed to working with the church and all religious bodies to serve the citizens of Zambia better .

The Vice President says government is readily available to seek guidance and counsel from the church as they are partners in development.

Mrs NALUMANGO stressed that government will continue to uphold the declaration of Zambia as a Christian Nation and also uphold the national values and principles .

She has since called on the church to work with Government to lessen the burdens that the Zambian people are facing in the country.

Mrs NALUMANGO said this during the fundraising breakfast held in Lusaka to raise resources for the national day of prayer and other events .

The Vice President also raised concern with the high prevalence of moral decay in the country, which include some church members .

She has also encouraged the church to take advantage of Government policies that have been put in place such as the CDF and the loans.

And National Day of Prayer Organizing Committee Chairperson Prophetess ESTHER JANI said the committee is holding the fundraising breakfast to not only raise money for the national day of prayer but also to help the vulnerable in society .

Prophetess JANI further said the proceeds will also go towards the training of the clergy on national values and principles .

And speaking during the Sermon, Council of Churches in Zambia President SAUROS PHAIKA said there is need for the church to partner with various stakeholders in the work of God .

Reverend PHAIKA said for the work of God to be fulfilled , there is need for finances and has since called on its various partners to help as the National day of prayer organizing committee seeks to raise money’s to hold the national day of prayer on the 18
th October.
