AVIC UPBEAT ABOUT MUFULIRA ROADS REHAB

By NATION REPORTER
ABOUT 25 kilometres of roads will be rehabilitated in Kankoyo constituency in Mufulira under the Copperbelt 400 by AVIC International.
AVIC International Business Assistant, Ranger Kim, said his company would work hard to complete the road rehabilitation before the rainy season.
Mr Ranger said the company has always been capable of putting up quality works and completing projects on time, hence winning the confidence of the Government and its people.
“Yes, we will be looking forward to completing this project on time, before the rains start. So tomorrow, we are starting the road rehabilitation works,’’ Mr Ranger said. He was speaking when Kankoyo Member of Parliament Brian Mushimba inspected the rehabilitation works in his constituency. And motorists including bus and taxi drivers welcomed the move to rehabilitate the road which had been in bad state for a long time. The drivers said their vehicles were often breaking down due to the bad state of the roads. Mr Mushimba walked from Buteko Market to Kankoyo Township to inspect the road network with officials from the Roads Development Agency, AVIC International, Mulonga Water and Sewerage Company and others. Mr Mushimba said he was happy that the road which has never been rehabilitated in the last 20 years would now be given a face-lift.
“As Kankoyo MP, I am back to a momentous occasion where I am witnessing the commencement of the road rehabilitation of the Town-Butondo township road.  This road has been in bad state for many years. For more than 15 or 20 years, this road has not been rehabilitated.
“This road will be rehabilitated under the Copperbelt 400. About seven kilometres of the road will be rehabilitated. As PF, we promised to deliver better roads and I must say we are on course in terms of delivering better roads,’’ Mr Mushimba said.
