AUTHORITIES WARN AGAINST CONSUMING NATURCOLD

The Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authorities -ZAMRA- has advised the public against using Naturcold, a pediatric syrup suspected to be a substandard drug.

ZAMRA Director General MAKOMANI SIYANGA says some children in a west African countries have died following the suspected consumption of the product.

Mr. SIYANGA says Health authorities in that country have indicated that the syrup which is not registered is reported to have been imported into that country through illicit trafficking of medicines.

He says even though the syrup is not authorised or registered for use in Zambia, healthcare professionals and the general public should be alert as the drug can be found in the country through informal markets.

He adds that those who may in be in possession of the product should return it to the supplier or inform ZAMRA.

This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC News by Mr. SIYANGA.
