ATTEND PRAYERS-PASTOR

By Moombe Hamobola:

David Livingstone Presbyterian Church Pastor-in- Charge Christopher Mkandawire has urged Zambians to turn out in large numbers to pray and fast during the National Day of Prayer and fasting tomorrow.

Dr. Mkandawire has told ZNBC News in Livingstone that the National Day of Prayer and Fasting is not a political rally and should not be treated as such.

He says the National Day of Prayer and Fasting has nothing to do with political affiliation but that it is about people coming together to thank GOD as well as to seek his intervention on the challenges being faced in Zambia.

Dr. Mkandawire said Zambia has enjoyed peace since 1964, a record that can be attributed to God’s love for the country.

And speaking in a separate interview, Seventh Day Adventist Church Pastor, Mungende Mukoswe said while the day of Prayer and Fasting was designated by a politician, it is not for politicians.

Pastor Mukoswe said the prayers must not be attached to politics because Zambians will not be worshiping politicians but God.

He further urged Zambians to pray for political leaders so that God may give them wisdom to rule the country according to his will.

In 2015, former President Edgar Lungu declared October 18 as a Public Holiday to be observed as a Day of National Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation.
