The Zambia Army is saddened with the behaviour of residents of Chongwe District who attacked its officers who were surveying army land on January 18th, 2023.

Zambia Army Spokesperson MARTIN LIYUNGU says it was wrong for the community members who grabbed government property from soldiers which they later destroyed.

Colonel LIYUNGU says Army officers on the day were surveying land to be used for Tank Driving Circuit for training armoured tank drivers when they were attacked.

He says the land in question is on title at Mikango Barracks and it is owned by the Zambia Army.

Colonel LIYUNGU has commended the officers who restrained themselves from using force despite being armed during the incident.

He has advised members of the public to always report any misunderstanding with soldiers to the Zambia Army Headquarters or any Army unit nearby.

Colonel LIYUNGU has told ZNBC News in a statement that the matter has since been reported to Police and is under investigations.
