ARCHBISHOP BANDA CONDEMNS VIOLENCE

By Ruth Chayinda

Archbishop of Lusaka Alick Banda has expressed disappointment with the increase in violence being witnessed as the country goes to the polls next month.

Archbishop Banda says it is saddening that some of the gruesome incidences have happened in full view of some political leaders, who he says have paid a blind eye.

He has since described the peace treaties signed in the last couple of weeks among political parties as a façade because political violence has heightened.

Archbishop Banda said in a statement that some politicians are cunning and troubled thus thrive on bloodshed and destruction of property.

He has since reminded political leaders and Zambians to live in peace because it is an attribute of God before it is a human task.

Archbishop Banda says anyone who tries to bring about peace without God labors in vain further saying the lack of peace in society is indicative of the lack of peace at personal level which is a result of a failed relationship with God.
