All Students Who Applied For Sponsorship To Pursue Studies At Kapasa Makasa University Awarded 100% Student Loans

The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board has awarded student loans to all the 90 students who applied for sponsorship to pursue studies at Kapasa Makasa University in Chinsali District for the 2019/ 2020 academic year.

According to the Scholarship Board Acting Communications Officer, Chiselwa Kawanda, only a few students applied hence all of them have been awarded student loans at 100 percent.

Ms Kawanda explains that of the 90 students, 67 are male while 23 are females, representing 74.4 percent and 25.6 percent, respectively.

In a statement issued to Phoenix News, Ms Kawanda states that despite the low number of applications received, the board took into account the emphasis of the 7th national development plan on science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

She says the loans for the first year students will cover tuition fees, accommodation fees and book allowances.

Ms Kawanda says the board is therefore appealing to all students who were accepted at Kapasa Makasa University for the 2019/2020 academic year but did not manage to apply for sponsorship, to apply when the Scholarships board team visits the institution for screening in January 2020.
