Air Force,Army To Help With Exam Paper Distribution

The Ministry of General Education has assured teachers in Northern Province that it will engage strategic partners like Zambia Air Force and Zambia Army to distribute examination papers if need arises.General Education Minister David Mabumba says this is because the examinations will be held during the rain season.Mr Mabumba says teachers in rural areas should not worry about the examinations being in December under the revised time table because key partners will help to airlift the papers.He says government could not schedule the examinations earlier than December because 19 days have already been lost owing to the closure of schools due to Covid -19.Mr. Mabumba says the change in examination time tables is a Presidential directive hence relevant security wings will come on board to ensure the directive is followed.And the Minister has further advised teachers in different schools to find means of letting pupils catch up on their school work.Mr. Mabumba has advised teachers in Northern Province to embrace the Covid-19 guidelines for schools as a sacred document in managing pupils so that schools become the safest place for them.The Minister addressed teachers, parents and school authorities in Mpulungu, Senga Hill and Kasama districts yesterday where he advised teachers to follow the provision of the guidelines instead of creating their own.And Provincial Education Officer Grace Sinkolongo said schools in the province did not have to wait for government to distribute face masks for their teachers and pupils but went ahead and procure their own.She said all schools are ready to re-open and have put various measures.Northern Province has over 70-thousand examination candidates.
