AG RULES ON CBU HEALTH PROGRAMMES

The Attorney General’s chambers has guided that the reinstatement of health programmes that were withdrawn at the Copperbelt University (CBU) will follow the due process of the Health Professions Act.
The Attorney General has also guided that CBU must develop an improvement plan that will address the deficiencies observed in the three programmes.
The programmes which were withdrawn are Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Dental Surgery.
The Attorney General’s chambers says the withdrawal of the programmes at CBU by HPCZ was in line with the law as enshrined in the health professions act.
This is according to a joint statement to ZNBC news signed by HPCZ Registrar Aarron Mujajati and Higher Education Authority Acting Director General Elizabeth Hamvumba.
The statement also says CBU has been engaged and is cooperating to ensure a speedy reinstatement of the programmes that were withdrawn.
