Adhere to MOH guidelines or lose points and get your games canceled – FAZ tells clubs

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) General Secretary Adrian Kashala clubs who will be found to be in breach of COVID-19 guidelines could face severe punishment.

According to a press statement by FAZ Communications manager Sydney Mungala availed to the ZamFoot Crew, Kashala says teams that are found guilty of breaching the guidelines could lose matches or their games being canceled.

Kashala also went on to remind clubs that the league resumption could also be halted if clubs do not adhere to the set guidelines.

“We are greatly concerned that some clubs have relaxed their adherence to the COVID-19 guidelines. We should never forget that the league resumption can always be halted if clubs do not adhere to the set guidelines,” Kashala told FAZ media.

“The Ministry of Health has been keeping an eye on the preparations and have raised the whistle on us in the manner some clubs are neglecting to observe the set guidelines.”

“Clubs will face stiff penalties for breaching COVID-19 guidelines that could even extend to losing points or matches being canceled,” he added.

The league is set to resume on Saturday (July 18, 2020) at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium with National Division One sides Kitwe United and Police College facing off in a lunchtime kickoff while a Super League clash of Forest Rangers and Zanaco will follow at 15:00 hours.

On Sunday, Defending Champions, Zesco United host Kansanshi Dynamos while Money bags Buildcon face-off with Powerful Power Dynamos. All the matches will be played behind closed doors.
