ActionAid wants govt to organize National Economic Indaba

Action Aid Zambia Country Director Nalucha Ziba wants government to call a national symposium indaba that will deliberate and find the solution to the continued increase of the country’s external debt which currently stand at ten point five billion united dollars.

Ms. Ziba has told q-news in an interview that there is no need for the country to overlook signs indicating that that economic hardships have engulfed the country.

Ms. Ziba is concerned that the country’s debt has continued on its growth trajectory.

She feels Zambia’s borrowing is higher than it was borrowed during Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) point.

She however advised the government on the need to come up with debt management strategy and consider to do more around domestic resource mobilization.

Ms. Nalucha also expressed worry that the little resources being mobilized are not properly used to the advantage of the people.
