Lusaka, zambia24 (2-06-2023) – Action Auto has donated 3100 doses of rabies vaccines, books, gloves, and medical items to the anti-rabies campaign in the coverage Kabwe district central province

Action Auto’s Head of Sales and Marketing, Lilia Samui told journalists during the handover ceremony at the head office that the donations is a contributory efforts from different stakeholders that did anboutstanding work, which is gradually impacting other parts of the country.

Samui explained, “We prioritize contributing positively towards our community’s health, particularly in preventing infectious diseases like rabies.”

She said the donation is a small part of our dedication to enriching the lives of many people in society.

Samui expressed her gratitude and support towards the leading the campaign, stating, “their unwavering commitment and hard work have been truly remarkable. We are privileged to support them in any way possible.”

Samui is keen on hearing about the progress of the campaign and its impact on the community.

“Our association with this initiative is a matter of pride for us,” she concluded.

She advised all other people to work together and create a positive change in the lives of the people in society.

And speaking at the same function the Deputy Director of Veterinary Services at the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, to discuss an essential topic – the importance of vaccinating dogs against rabies in Zambia.

Goma stressed that rabies control and elimination must target at least 70% of the domestic dog population in Zambia through regular vaccinations.

She explained that dogs are the primary source of transmission of rabies to humans, so it is necessary to vaccinate as many dogs as possible to prevent the spread of the virus.

Collaboration between various stakeholders is imperative in controlling and eliminating rabies.

Goma emphasized that involving the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Local Government, and law enforcement will help to eliminate rabies.

Responsible dog ownership is another crucial aspect that is necessary for prevention.

Goma highlighted that it is not only about vaccinations but also about offering a loving environment for pets, providing food and shelter, and dog owners being responsible for their pet’s waste.

Goma expressed her gratitude to them for their generous support and donation of vaccines by Action Auto Zambia.

She said their support would ensure that the vaccination campaign shots reach and protect more dogs, which is the first step to preventing the spread of the disease.

Finally, she urged all officers involved in the vaccination campaign to submit detailed reports, as this would ensure transparency and accountability in the campaign.

“Our goal is to eliminate rabies entirely from Zambia, and with everyone’s support, we can make it a reality,” she added.
