A 60 year old man arrested for Murder

Police in Siavonga District have arrested a 60-year old man for the murder of his 58-year old wife using a pounding stick.

The suspect has been identified as Bernard Hamwiinga of Hakabija village in Chief Sinadambwe’s Chiefdom in Siavonga District who murdered his wife identified as Maggie Mafuta of the same village.

Confirming the developmentto q-news, Siavonga District Commissioner, Lovemore Kanyama says the incident took place around 17:30hrs on Sunday, 12th august, 2018.

He adds that the victim’s body has since been buried today, following a postmortem that was conducted yesterday.

Mr. Kanyama has strongly advised married men in the district to desist from killing their wives, but instead strive to resolve marital disputes amicably.

He notes with concern how Siavonga district has of late continued to record murder, defilement and GBV cases, with men being the major culprits in most cases.

He has since called for stiff punishment for men involved in murder and GBV cases in order to deter would be offenders.
