Tourism Permanent Secretary EVANS MUHANGA says over 800,000 tourists visited ZAMBIA last year.

Mr. MUHANGA says before the Covid pandemic, Zambia was attracting over 1.3 million tourists annually but dropped to 500,000.

He says with the revised VISA regime, tourists from most of the country’s source markets are now able to enter the country.

Mr. MUHANGA says this has helped to reduce entry procedures and increased the length of stay in the country leading to increased expenditure by tourists.

He said this when he  led the Zambian delegation to the just ended 2023 ITB Travel Trade Show in Berlin, Germany.

And Charge D’Affaires at the Zambian Embassy in Berlin DORCAS CHILESHE  said this year’s ITB Travel Trade show has brought out insights from the many bilateral meetings and engagements.

This is according to a statement released to ZNBC News by First Secretary for Press at the Zambian Embassy in Berlin, Germany LUBINDA KASHEWE.
