7M ZAMBIANS LOOKING FOR JOBS

About 6 to 7 million Zambians are actively looking for employment.

Finance Minister, SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE says this is according to findings of a survey done last year, to ascertain the country’s biggest development challenge.

Dr MUSOKOTWANE has further disclosed that the survey also revealed that income levels are very low, even among people in employment.

The Minister has explained that low income levels are the second biggest challenges for Zambia, coupled by the increased cost of living.

Dr MUSOKOTWANE said this today in Lusaka, during a Public Symposium on the 2023 National Budget.

And Dr MUSOKOTWANE has said the proposed 2023 National Budget will be used to directly address the identified challenges and other aspirations, as enshrined in the Eighth National Development Plan.

He has described the Eighth National Development Plan is an economic research tool, which is guiding government on the steps to take to deal with challenges and achieve economic growth.

Dr MUSOKOTWANE says this will only be achieved if every Zambian participates in the development agenda, by engaging in some form of productive activity.

He says this calls for mindset change and increased productivity, especially among government workers.
