756km of roads under Link Zambia 8000 surfaced, opened to traffic

About 5,000 kilometers  of roads under the Link Zambia 8000 road Programme are currently under construction while 756 kilometers have been surfaced and opened to traffic.

Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Development  Ronald Chitotela Mr.  Chitotela says a total of 43 projects translating into 4,959 km are at various stages of completion.

Mr. Chitotela says government is happy with the progress being made on the road project.

He states that the Link Zambia 8000 road Programme has, since its inception, created over 6,000 job opportunities.

And Mr. Chitotela says some of the notable projects that have been completed and handed over include the Leopards Hill to Katoba , Mabla to Nakonde Road  and the Luangwa Bridge to Feira Road.

He notes that the Bottom Road from Njami to Munyumbwe and the Mongu to Kalabo Road are also other notable projects that have been completed.

Mr. Chitotela states that in addition to projects that have been completed, significant progress has also been recorded on the Kitwe to Chingola Dual Carriageway and on Mumbwa to Itezhi Tezhi Road.

He says there is also progress being made on the Chingola to Solwezi Road, Kawambwa – Mushota Road, Pedicle Road and Chama to Matumbo Road.
