350 PARTICPATE IN MOSI-O-TUNYA MARATHON

About 350 people from various companies have participated in the inaugural Mosi -Oa- Tunya Eco-Marathon held this morning in the tourist capital Livingstone.

The Event saw CHRISTOPHER CHILUFYA who participated on an individual basis scoop the first position in the male category of the 42-kilometer race while MANYILE NJOVU from ZESCO won the female category.

The 21-kilometer run saw JACKSON KASHIYA of Kansenshi Mines beat his closest rival MICHELO SIYABWACHA from Nakambala while ELIZABETH MUKOLOMA conquered in the female category.

Meanwhile PETER MWIINGA of Nakambala scooped the 10-kilometer male category while QUEEN KAONGA from David Livingstone College of Education won in the female category.

The organizers Toursport said the ZESCO sponsored event will be held annually to attract tourists into Livingstone.

Toursport Executive Director JOSEPH MAOPU said next year’s event aims at attracting more than three thousand participants from various parts of the country.

ZESCO Victoria Falls Power Station Manager LIOKO SITALI said Marathons promote healthy living and wellness in places of work and encouraged more Zambians to participate in such events.
