3 dead and 2 injured in Katete road traffic accident, Police say

THREE have died whilst two others sustained serious injuries in a road accident which happened at Mtetezi area in Katete District Eastern province.
The accident occurred on Tuesday around 19:30hrs when a Toyota Sprinter they were in lost control and hit a stationary truck.
Deputy Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has confirmed this in a statement to Mwebantu.
Hamoonga said the driver of the truck has been charged for Obstruction of road by motor as he had parked the vehicle at the curve of the road whilst the driver of the Sprinter will be charged with three counts of Causing Death by Dangerous Driving.
He identified the deceased as Maureen Mumba aged 21, Davison Lungu aged 39 and Banda other name not known but all of Nyimba District who were also passengers in a Toyota Sprinter Registration ABJ 8417.
Hamoonga said the driver of the sprinter identified as Grayford Phiri aged 30 years of  Mukanda village in Chipata sustained serious injuries and is admitted to St Francis Hospital while the three deceased are laying in the Mortuary awaiting Post-mortem.
