28 Out Of 31 Ndola City Council Officers Suspended For Alleged Land Illegalities Reinstated

By Tinkerbel Mwila

The Local Government Service Commission has reinstated 28 out of the 31 suspended Ndola City Council officers among them directors in 2017 on allegations of being involved in land illegalities.

According to sources at Ndola City Council, the officers have since been transferred to various posts outside Copperbelt province.

Amidst Investigations by the Anti-Corruption Commission and Drug Enforcement Commission, then Ndola Town Clerk Ernest Sumani and two other Directors resigned from their positions while investigations were ongoing.

And a Check at the council by a Phoenix News Crew yesterday found some officers collecting their transfer letters.

A follow up with local government service commission chairperson Amos Musonda on the Development and findings by investigative wing proved futile as he requested for a press query to be sent through the secretariat.

Meanwhile when reached for a comment, local government minister Charles Banda said it was not a crime for offices to be transferred when they are found with no case to answer.
