“HPCZ Shuts Ten Health Facilities”

Lusaka, Zambia — (29-07-2024) – The Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) has announced the immediate closure of ten health facilities across the country for operating without valid health facility licenses. This decisive action, effective from Friday, July 26, 2024, is part of the Council’s ongoing efforts to enforce compliance with healthcare training standards and regulations.
A notice issued by the HPCZ stated that the closures were due to violations of Sections 36(1), 45, and 50(1)(b) of the Health Professions Council Act Number 24 of 2009.
The Council emphasized that the affected health facilities were operating without the necessary valid licenses, posing a potential risk to public health and safety.
“The closure of these facilities is a necessary step to ensure the safety and well-being of the public,” stated a notice from the HPCZ.
“Operating without a valid license undermines the integrity of our healthcare system and exposes patients to potential harm.”
The HPCZ has urged all stakeholders and the general public to take note of the closures and to ensure that healthcare services are sought only from duly licensed and compliant facilities.
“We call on all healthcare providers to adhere strictly to the regulations set forth by the HPCZ. Compliance is not optional; it is a legal and ethical obligation,” the notice added.
The Council reiterated its commitment to upholding the highest standards of healthcare training and practice in Zambia. “Our mission is to maintain the highest standards in healthcare. We will continue to monitor and enforce compliance rigorously,” the notice stated.

- Ivitals Telehealth Services, Lusaka Province, Lusaka
- Oriental Quarries Clinic, Lusaka Province, Lusaka
- Pine Ridge Laboratory, Lusaka Province, Lusaka
- Zedian Medical Laboratory, Lusaka Province, Lusaka
- Johnson Medical Clinic, Southern Province, Mazabuka
- Musikili School Sickbay, Southern Province, Mazabuka
