Barbra Banda assists in Orlando Pride draw
Copper Queens skipper Barbra Banda set up a goal as Orlando Pride played to a 1-1 draw with San Diego Wave.Â
The draw means the Pride’s eight match National Women’s Soccer League historical run comes to an end.Â
The Zambian international was withdrawn at halftime as Seb Hines introduced Brazilian football icon Marta for her 100th League appearance.Â
The Goal ; 36’ Julie Doyle (Barbra Banda) – ORL 1, SD 0
The Pride opened the scoring on the counterattack after their defence cleared away a corner.Â
The ball was sent up to Barbra Banda who drove at the defender and crossed the ball into the box, finding Julie Doyle who made an acrobatic finish to pull ahead.
The Equalizer; 62’ Makenzy Doniak – ORL 1, SD 1
The home side levelled things up in the second half after a ball was crossed to the back post and found the foot of Makenzy Doniak.Â
Doniak was able to get a shot away and through a crowd of players, deflecting off a Pride defender and into the back of the net.
The Pride’s unbeaten run (8-0-4, 28 points) has however continued as they go 12 games without suffering a single defeat.
The Pride will remain on the road for their next match, travelling to face the North Carolina Courage on Saturday, June 15 at WakeMed Soccer Park.
