Sports Awards Set for Thursday

All is set for the 2023 National Sports awards as top athletes compete to determine the outstanding athletes of the year.

Sprinter MUZALA SAMUKONGA, Boxer PATRICK CHINYEMBA, and Judoka STEPHEN MUNG’ANDU will battle for the Men’s athlete of the year award during the ceremony on Thursday.

In the Women’s Category, Netball team Captain BEAUTY NAKAZWE, Swimmer MIA PHIRI and Hockey team star CAROL NAKONDE are the final 3.

ZNBC Staffer CHANSA KUNDA has been shortlisted in the Sports Journalist of the year electronic category, along with VIRGINIA CHILONGO of Muvi TV and Crown TV’s VICTORIA LINOSI.

And, National Sports Council of Zambia Acting General Secretary RAPHAEL MULENGA said the committee is still looking for sponsorship to meet the budget for the awards.

MULENGA told ZNBC News in an interview that a Sum of 790,000 is required to ensure that all winners are awarded.
