Miners appeal for extension for License renewal
By Patricia Banda
The Association of Zambia Women in Mining has appealed to the Government to extend the period for renewing mining licenses on the new online system.
Association President NAMAKAU KAINGU says this will give more time to miners to learn how the new online system operates.
Ms KAINGU explains that most small scale miners are not conversant with the system.
She has told ZNBC news in an interview that some miners got wind of the system late .
She says this  is why their licenses are among the 2,500 licenses that have been  cancelled.
Ms. KAINGU has also  appealed to the Government to accelerate the process to empower small scale and medium miners with equipment for use in the mines.
She adds that the miners are eagerly waiting for the launch of cooperatives by the Minister of Mines PAUL KABUSWE.
