MET Warns of rain, thunderstorms, strong winds

By Bupe Ngalasiya

The Zambia Meteorology Department says the country will in the next one week experience widespread rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds especially in Western, Southern, North-Western, Copperbelt, Lusaka, and Central Provinces.

The Department says a low pressure system originating from the Southern Democratic Republic of Congo to the Southern coast of South Africa, known as a subtropical trough will influence the weather pattern in Zambia.

The Meteorology Department has said in its latest Advisory issued by today, that the changes in the weather pattern are expected to take effect today April 7, 2024 to April 13th 2024.

The Advisory further indicates an occurrence of reduced temperatures, windy conditions, and occasional hailstorms as the system progresses eastward across the country.

It has further advised farmers to take precaution to protect their crops from damage caused by heavy rainfall and hailstorms.

Additionally, residents are urged to avoid parking vehicles under trees or near unstable structures like billboards to minimize the risk of accidents or property damages.
