Lusaka, Zambia24, (April 4, 2024) – The upcoming European Union-Zambia Business Forum, scheduled from April 10 to 12, 2024, in Kitwe, signals a pivotal moment for Zambia’s copper industry.

Cisanga Mwanza, Communications, PR, and GRZ Liaison for EUZBF, told Zambia24 in a statement that this collaborative effort between the EU and Zambia aims to bolster sustainable growth within the sector, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in October 2023.

Mwanza explained that the forum brings together key stakeholders from the Zambian government, local businesses, and European and foreign companies in the copper sector.

“With global copper demand set to surge and a shared commitment to green transitions, the forum provides a timely platform to explore innovative solutions and maximize value addition in Zambia’s copper industry,” Mwanza explained.

Facilitating over 100 companies from Europe and Zambia, Mwanza observed the forum aims to foster partnerships and business-to-business interactions, promoting technology transfer and joint ventures along the copper value chain.

“Distinguished speakers, including President Hakainde Hichilema and key ministers, alongside EU representatives, highlight the forum’s significance in driving collaboration and sustainable practices,” Mwanza advised.

In essence, Mwanza suggested, the EU-Zambia Business Forum represents a crucial step towards enhancing the sustainability and resilience of Zambia’s copper industry.

She said harnessing collective expertise and resources, the forum aims to shape a future where the sector thrives sustainably amidst global transitions and economic growth.
