WTO Praises Zambia

By Masauso Mkwayaya.

The World Trade Organisation -WTO- has praised Zambia for its strong leadership in ensuring WTO funded programmes are localised.

WTO Enhanced Integrated Framework Executive Director, RATNAKAR ADHIKARI says Zambia has ensured that agriculture cooperatives that received training and funding in 2016 are financially independent.

Mr ADHIKARI says the cooperatives now manage projects such as bee keeping and are working with companies that are exporting honey to developed countries like the United Kingdom.

He says the WTO is proud of the leadership from the Zambian Government that has ensured that the involved parties maintain the highest level of quality which meets international standards.

He adds that Zambia is a success story on the impact of WTO’s support in ensuring barriers are removed for Least Developed Countries to gain access to markets in developed Countries.

Mr ADHIKARI said this in an interaction with Journalists from Least Developed Countries on the sidelines of the WTO 13th Ministerial Conference in Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates -UAE.
