ConCourt quashes SEAN TEMBO’s petition
By Hannock Kasama
The Constitutional Court has quashed the petition to compel President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA to shift from his New KASAMA private residence to State House.
The petition was filed by Patriots for Economic Progress -PEP- President SEAN TEMBO in May 2023.
The Constitutional Court ruled that the petition by Mr. TEMBO lacks merit.
The Court has endorsed Infrastructure and Urban Development Secretary ALBERT MALAMA’s submissions that there is no law in ZAMBIA that prescribes where the Head of State must reside.
The Constitutional Court has further taken note of Mr. MALAMA’s submissions that NKWAZI House, the Official President’s Premise at State House is currently dilapidated.
The judgment has been delivered by Constitutional Court Deputy President ARNOLD SHILIMI along with Constitutional Court Judges-ANNIE SITALI, MUGENI MULENGA and JUDY MULONGOTI.
Other Constitutional Court Judges that were on the panel are MUDFORD MWANDENGA and KENNETH MULIFE.
