GOVT TO CONTINUE SUPPORTING WOMEN
By Mark Ziligone:
Lusaka Province Minister SHEAL MULYATA says the New Dawn Administration will remain supportive to women productive activities aimed at empowering them economically.
Ms. MULYATA says Government believes that empowering and supporting women activities cannot only help empower them but contribute more to overall development.
She adds that women involvement in small or medium scale production activities should be encouraged through formation of cooperative groups in different parts of the country.
Ms. MULYATA was speaking in a speech read for her by Teaching Service Commission Chairperson DAPHNE CHIMUKA during the launch of Action Oriented Multi-Purpose Women’s Cooperative Society in Lusaka.
She further encouraged other women to take advantage of the availability of Women’s Empowerment fund within the Constituency Development Fund to form clubs, cooperatives and companies as a way to empower themselves.
And Cooperative Acting Chairperson ALICE NZALA explained that the cooperative will be involved in marketing its own processed food items produced by clusters of out-growers from among its members and other affiliate groups.
Mrs. NZALA said the cooperative members will also be involved in rearing chickens, quails, fish, goats, pigs and cattle.
She further thanked Government for creating an enabling environment for women to empower themselves.
