GOVT CAUTIONS FARMERS
By Nicholas Mwale:Minister of Agriculture Michael Katambo has cautioned farmers against selling fertilizer which they will access under the Farmer Input Support Programme -FISP-.Mr Katambo has told NAIS in an interview that the subsidised fertilizer comes at a great cost to government and is meant to assist small-scale farmers to improve crop production .He has urged the Agricultural Camp Extension Officers to sensitise farmers on the need to use FISP inputs prudently.Mr Katambo has applauded the leadership of President Edgar Lungu for ensuring that inputs are quickly secured and delivered to various regions without being disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic.Meanwhile, Masaiti District Commissioner Patrick Zulu has praised President Edgar Lungu for showing commitment in ensuring that farmers access inputs under FISP in good time.Mr Zulu said the early delivery of fertilizer to the districts shows the President’s true commitment to developing the agricultural sector and, his care for small-scale farmers.Mr Zulu has further applauded Nyimba Investments for being efficient in supplying fertilizer to the Masaiti district.
