NGOCC DONATES TO FLOODS VICTIMS

By Etambuyu Katota:The Non Governmental Gender Organizations’ Coordinating Council- NGOCC- has donated assorted items to flood victims in Luapula and Northern provinces.NGOCC Board Chairperson Mary Mulenga says the gesture is meant to compliment government’s efforts in addressing the plight of people affected by floods in some parts of the country.Speaking during the donation, Ms. Mulenga said the flooding has consequently displaced a number of people in affected areas.She said NGOCC is currently implementing a multi sectoral change project on ending child marriages being implemented in Seven Chiefdoms in Luapula and Northern provinces.Ms. Mulenga said the donated items that include sanitary pads for girls will ensure the project is not disrupted due to the problem of flood.She said the project, which has been running from 2016 and will go upto 2022 has had four hundred girls and five boys removed from marriages and taken back to schools.
